Meet Angel

Portland Metro Birth and Postpartum Doula

Angel’s Approach to Doula Work

Angel knows birth and postpartum is a deeply personal time of transition and transformation for families. It is a time of harnessing our deepest power while simultaneously surrendering to the unknown and trusting the process. It can be a time of confusion, anxiety and uncertainty for many. As a doula, her goal is to provide a safe and non judgemental space for families to grow in. Birthing is a natural process that deserves space to unfold without unnecessary interventions and outside opinions; it is your journey to experience in your own way. The process of becoming a parent is sacred and should be celebrated, prepared for, and supported prior to and beyond birth.

Angel believes that education and support for every birthing person and their support system is a basic human right. As a doula, she strives to hold space for families so they can immerse themselves in their journey and enjoy it for all it can be while feeling safe, supported and validated in their choices. She works in collaboration with your birth team to ensure your unique goals are being met and wishes are being respected. Her years as a Registered Nurse taught her how to maintain calm in uncertain situations and high stress environments. Tapping into this skill allows her to be readily available for you and your support person during the many twists and turns of birth and postpartum.

Angel’s Background

Angel moved to Portland from Louisville, Kentucky in 2023. Her love for helping others led her to a career in nursing out of high school. She received her Associate's Degree in Nursing in 2009 and Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2018. Working Labor and Delivery and Postpartum were her absolute favorite positions in nursing and fueled her passion for becoming a doula. After experiencing her own struggles to breastfeed her tongue-tied sons, Angel became a Certified Lactation Counselor with the dream of being able to provide education, guidance and support to others.

Angel believes in the power of knowledge and is currently working toward her Childbirth Educator credential. Equity and access to doula support is very important to her, which is why she became a Traditional Health Worker for the State of Oregon and is working towards the comparable certification in the State of Washington. Becoming a doula has allowed Angel to mix her medical knowledge, her passion for advocacy and her vision of every birthing person having their optimal birth experience into a reality that serves her community.

When not at work, Angel loves to be outside enjoying a good walk with her Collie, Luna or spending time with her husband and two boys. She is always looking for a good adventure and a way to grow herself personally and professionally. Sunshine and coffee are her favorite pick-me-ups, while laughter with friends and family is her favorite medicine.
